Slips are side-shoots or fruit with large crowns that grow from buds on the pineapple ( Ananas comosus L.) peduncle. The slips widely used for vegetative propagation when left attached to is marketed. There a difference between two most popular low-acid hybrids grown worldwide. ‘Pineapple Research Institute 73-50’ (CO-2, MD-1) develop few roots planted compared 73-114’ (MD2). slow rooting of 73-50 leads field establishment and can extend crop cycle.
